Maneuvering through the United States immigration process is a complicated and long-term process. Refugees jump through a number of legal hoops to ensure they maintain their legal status here in the U.S., can reunite with family members left behind and gain access to economic and educational opportunities. Providing immigration assistance to refugees as they meet various milestones of their residency is crucial to their well-being in the U.S. Most new immigrants have very limited English abilities and are unable to understand the complicated paperwork needed for the many immigration steps they must take after their arrival. Without our experienced and unique immigration program, refugees would be vulnerable to those who could take advantage of their desperate need for immigration assistance, as well as possibly risking their continued residency and well-being.
Obtaining immigration assistance through our office strengthens immigrants and their families and empowers them to lead productive and successful lives through our helping them become permanent residents, petitioning for relatives left behind, and becoming U.S. Citizens. As clients receive services at the World Relief office and are also at times referred to local church Citizenship Programs they will experience Christ’s love in action and become aware of World Relief’s and the Church’s concern for their physical, spiritual and social well being.
